Bandits elude capture following a shootout
Police are searching for two men who opened fire on officers yesterday afternoon.
ADD News TT understands that the lawmen were responding to a report of a robbery along Boys Lane in Dabadie at about midday in which a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint.
The officers observed the vehicle along the roadway and gave chase.
However, the driver of the stolen car crashed into a parked white Nissan Wingroad along the roadway.
Two men exited the vehicle, with one of the suspects opening fire on the lawmen.
The police took cover and returned fire.
However, during the exchange, the suspects managed to make good their escape.
The crime scene was processed by officers attached to the Northern Division Crime Scene where four spent shells with the markings “TTPS 9mm” were recovered.
The vehicle was wrecked at the Arima Police Station.
